Admiring our kids

Okay, I saw something that struck my attention. I was watching a guest musician a few weeks ago at church, he had brought his daughter with him and she came out on stge to sing a song with him. As she began to sing the camera panned from her to him and the look on his face as he watched her sing was total awe and admiration, you could tell how proud he was of her. I had to ask myself the question how proud am I of my kids and what they are able to accomplish with the talents God has given them. My prayer is that I would be more encouraging to and inspired by my kids as this musician was of his, that will in miy mind is a step in the right direction.

Came after midnight

Okay so the other night I was not able to sleep, (off and on each hour) then I was up for a whole hour between 2 & 3 am. Just fretting over various things I'm sure when I was reminded that we have not been given a spirit of fear but of Love, Power and a Sound Mind. Love well I know that Perfect Love casts out all fear, also love is patient and kind, thinks no evil...hopes all things and endures all things. Then I also know that we are to serve one another in Love and that greater Love has no man than this but to lay down ones life for his friends. And we have been given this spirit? Sweet why don't we dwell on that today. It was a peaceful rest of the night.
Life....and that more abundantly

Crowded at the computer

As I sit down to type I find my self surrounded by my beautiful children and a hand puppet penguin. The last post dealt with my vow of silence which I did complete all the way trough June. It was good something I would recommend everyone try at least once as media is becoming so much more prevailing and over bearing. It's hard to concentrate with the Penguino talking and the other stuffed animals joining the conversation. So that's enough for now.

Mobile Monastery

I have decide as one of "New Years Resolutions" to take a vow of silence. But of course this will be a modified version I will be speaking, I've just decided to tune out the outside world thus I will not be listening to the radio either music or talk show while I drive for the next 6 months! This also holds for idle time or while I'm doing busy work like cleaning the garage etc. My kids think I'm crazy, but well see I just plan on focusing the next few months trying to discern the voice of God as it relates to doing his will. Stay tuned for more updates.

Job Search - Eureka!

I have been reading an excellent book on creativity by Doug Hall founder of Eureka! At the same time I am beginning to sense that it may be time to switch jobs, switch professions, or try something totally new. To this end I have decided to apply his techniques to a possible job search/switch. I'm taking my time and am looking to do something next summer. One of the techniques he mentions is "hitchhiking" which is basically piggy backing on someone else's ideas. So that I got me thinking that the blogosphere would be a great format for this type of thing seeking ideas of what to do next in life. So here goes, if you would like to contribute to a pool of ideas of what to do next feel free to do so. Over the next few months I'll be bouncing ideas off this page for consideration and experimentation. I will also be putting up some background info to stir further comments. Happy creating.

Book Writing

It seems that the bro in law is writing a book, it seems to be a fiction/fantasy book of some type. he has sent 3 chapters so far via e-mail, thus keeping the kids and myself in supense. He seems to writing pretty quickly ( a chapter per day) we'll see if he can keep it up. Way to go D, looking forward to the full manuscript.
